Healthy Advent Calendars

So it turns out that most of you out there are hardcore Advent Calendar fans.  Seriously, who knew? Not me that's for sure. The last post I did about Adult Only Advent Calendars received all sorts of comments both here and over on www.facebook.com/kirstenandco including this one by Emma:

Fab ideas, but where's the sugar free, actually pretty much anything edible free, but still makes me smile each day version for me?

Now Emma is actually my cousin and she has spent most of this year on a massive health kick.  One that's seen her loose an incredible amount of weight.  And one that I'm in complete and utter awe of. So Emma, these are for you....except probably the last one.  You'll see what I mean when you get there.

An Apple Advent Calendar.  A very healthy option and unlike it's opposition, Chocolate, it won't ever melt or send the calories straight to your arse.

I mean, really.  Who effing knew?

But wait, there's more...
yep, the cat can get in on the Advent Action too. FFS.

Not into apples or cats?  Yeah, me neither.  How about 24 teeny tiny buckets filled with stoned Gingerbread men....

Or you could rock it like it's 1982 and go hardcore with the old school Nativity Advent Calendar.  Where each day you get to open yet another picture of Jesus.  On the bright side, you do get to say "Jesus Christ" 24 days in a row, without offending any nearby religious types.

How about a book filled Christmas?  24 days of unwrapping a book or a magazine.  Sounds expensive but it's definitely sugar free.

Speaking of Sugar Free, look at these little gems.  No added sugar and dairy free.  For the hardcore vegan in your life.  Gotta feel sorry for any kid who has to open these suckers up each morning.  But it's probably slightly more tasty than the Tofu Turkey they'll be served on Christmas Day.

And finally, how does 24 days of nailpolish sound?  Sounds bloody boring if you ask me.  I think by Day 5 you'd probably get the idea of what to expect for the remaining 19 days.

Are we Advent Calendar-ed out yet?  Or would you like me to keep going?  I'm fairly sure I could come up with at least 2 more posts about the joys of advent calendars.  Any suggestions?

  1. Yes, we like our Advent Calendars! My husband laughed about that wine bottle one from before. Just a sweet note each day would be sugar free, if you are Adkinsing.
