So long time Lovely Readers will recall that a few months ago my email, paypal and ebay accounts were hacked into my a lovely fellow from Tunisia. If you're not sure what I'm banging on about, you can read all the details of that delightful experience right here.
Tunisia. Lovely place for a hacking holiday.
And now I have a bit of a Tunisian Hacker update for you. You see at the time of the hacking incident, I realised that this bloke was in fact monitoring my keystrokes. Which meant he could see all of my new passwords and still access all of my online accounts. He even had the nerve to get back into my so called secure hotmail account, change ALL of my personal details to his AND change my security settings so that I had no way of being able to access my own information!
A sample of what the Tunisian Hacker bought using my coin
But he clearly had no idea who he was dealing with because I was onto it quicker than you can say "hackers can go suck it." Yep, I managed to get back into my hotmail account and shut the whole thing down. But before I did, I left our little hacker a rather charming message. Yes, in the section where you have to enter your first and last names I wrote the following message:
First Name: F%^K YOU TUNISIAN HACKER
Second Name: THE POLICE HAVE BEEN INFORMED
And yes, I totally shouted those words at him, cleared out my hotmail account and logged off.
Where the K&Co. magic happens.
Then I started using a different email account for a while and occasionally logged back into my hotmail account to see if there had been any hacker action. After a couple of months of hacker silence, I reactivated the account and happily went about using it. Oh yes, I sent off lots of emails to fellow bloggers, family, friends and corporate companies. Not for a second thinking about that hacker. Until last night.
You see I forwarded quite an important email to Scott from my hotmail account, while he was sitting beside me. As you do. His phone went 'ping', he opened the email, turned to me and said "Um, you do know that your email account is still registered under the name of F&*K YOU TUNISIAN HACKER THE POLICE HAVE BEEN INFORMED and that's the name that's showing on my screen as the sender."
Um, no I did not. But it would certainly explain why so many people (bloggers, PR reps, LARGE CORPORATE COMPANIES) haven't replied to any of my sent emails.
Excuse me while I crawl under a rock AND DIE.
How about you? Ever done anything embarrassing with your email account? Please tell me it's not just me!

brilliant - so violating though isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt was such a violation of privacy and took up so much time to sort it all out. On the bright side, my silly forgetfulness has made for a great blog post lol!
DeleteHorrible and hilarious all in one! x
ReplyDeleteThat sums it up perfectly Nikki!
