it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas?....

So today, on the way home from taking B to the doctors to get a wart burnt off his hand (yes, I live one glamourous life), Sophie asked me if we could, "Please put the Christmas tree up when we get home?"  Um, that would be a big fat no.  Partly because it's September, but mainly because IT'S SEPTEMBER.

To which Sophie replied, "But there's trees up in all of the shops and we don't want to hurt Santa's feelings by not putting ours up too."  Fair point.  Although I do think Santa will be more than fine with us waiting for, oh I don't know, the 2012 school year to end before we go whacking any sort of Christmas decorations up.

Being the hardcore shopper that I am, I saw first hand the staff at David Jones working feverishly in August setting up their fancy pants Christmas Shoppe thingy, with Myer following closely behind, having their's set up in early September.  Even our local florist has got in on the act, putting up a tree in her shop, complete with a sign that says "Christmas.  It's on it's way."

I mean, really?  Am I the only one who thinks this whole Early Retail Christmas approach is just ridiculous?

Before we know it, there will be Hot Cross Buns at the supermarket and Mother's Day cards at the newsagent.  Which, just quietly, would really ping me off because I'm 40 in March (hard to believe, I know) and I think we can all agree that my 40th should be the only celebration on everyone's mind for the first 3 months of 2013.  K&Co. over & out xox
