So earlier in the week I got just a little bit excited when I found the above image over on pinterest. I clicked on it and it led me to this...
Apparently when you run in any of the many Nike Women's Marathons held in the good old US of A every year and you cross the finish line this is what you're met with...
Yep, random men dressed in tuxedos and carrying silver platters with Tiffany & Co. boxes sitting on top. That they give you. For finishing. Not for coming first or second or even third, but just for actually finishing. It was enough for me to want to throw on a pair of hot pink nikes and take up running.
But then I looked into it a bit further and discovered two key points in this Tiffany Box Giveaway...
1. It costs $200 to enter the marathon. Um, so not only do I have to run for 42 kilometres (that's 26 miles for our American readers...hi Beryl!) but I also have to pay for the privilege of doing so? If in fact, running for so long is considered a privilege. I'd have thought 'torture' would be a more appropriate way of describing it. Also, you can pick up a necklace from Tiffany & Co for around the 200 buck mark, so seriously people, why would you pay that amount of money to run for god knows how long only to pick up one of these babies...
Which brings me to point number 2. I'm a hardcore Tiffany & Co. fan. Really. I am. But I draw the line at wearing a pendant that features the nike swoosh, cost me $200 in entrance fees and caused a borderline heart attack from a day of non stop running. So it's back to the couch and the cheezels for me. Ha. AS IF. I eat my cheezels standing up.

Agree wholeheartedly 100%. Running a marathon? Crazy times.
ReplyDeleteI'm a hardcore Tiffany & Co girl too, so I might consider walking quite fast into the store, but that's about it for me!
LOL re: walking quickly into the store!!
DeleteMiss S would certainly appreciate the pretty box (to go along with the truck load of other little blue boxes) regardless of the contents. That's precisely what she likes to sell in her faux shop :)
ReplyDeleteAs for cheezels.... seriously!!! Did you have to say the C word! Totally craving those little orange mouthfuls of bliss on my fingers right now. Perhaps they can make an appearance at the Hilton?
Running a (half) marathon is on my bucket list. Not sure of the pendant though. Maybe my marathon should finish at Tiffany & Co store
