So there hasn't been a lot of action on the blog of late. Partly because I've been enjoying the school holidays with the kids but mainly because during the Easter long weekend my ebay, paypal, email and Facebook accounts were hacked into. Yes, some lovely bloke from Tunisia stole my paypal details and racked up a massive $1200 in ebay purchases.
But he didn't stop there.
Once I realised what was happening, I quickly changed all of my passwords and contacted the relevant authorities but he was almost one step ahead of me and managed to get back into my accounts, change the passwords and attempt to make even more ebay purchases. BUT, what he forgot to do was cover up his IP address, his email address AND his clothing size.
So now I'm totes ahead of the hacking game because I know that he's
a) from Tunisia
Tunisia.
The home of all good internet hackers.
b) a skinny little runt (he wears a 29 inch waist pant. I know this because he bought 5 pairs of adidas tracksuit pants, which buy the way are just a little bit 'Run DMC' if you ask me)
Run DMC.
Massive in the 80's.
Now? Not so much.
But huge with Tunisian based internet hackers apparently.
c) loves soccer (he bought enough soccer balls for the entire English Premier League)
d) has very feminine taste in sunglasses (FYI Tunisian Hacker Dude, gold plated mirrored aviators are SO last year)
A summary of what my Tunisian Hacker Dude tried to buy.
Expensive, tacky taste.
All on my coin.
So my lovely readers, the moral of the story is this:
Don't ever use the same password for all of your online accounts
and
Tunisian Easter Internet Hackers can go suck it!
How about you?
Ever been stupid enough to only use the same password for every damn account you own?
Or is that just me?
nope that's not just you! guess what I'm doing tomorrow then! it's really quite scary :(
ReplyDeleteIt's very scary Leanne! Hope you've successfully changed all of your passwords x
DeleteWow. How did you get on to it so quickly? Looks like you kept your sense of humor through it all :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was pure luck that I got onto it so quickly...ebay had emailed me with the receipts from the purchases and I knew I'd made none of those purchases, so called ebay directly and they were all over it. Thank god! Still, he did alright to get $1200 worth of gear in 24 hours! And yep, sometimes a sense of humour is the only thing to get you through tricky situations :)
