school holidays

I don't know about you, but I love the school holidays.  There's a slower pace to life, the kids are happy to do whatevs and in amongst the endless games of Uno, Trouble & Guess Who, I  get the opportunity to have some hardcore thinking time.  Which I did a fair bit of these holidays....

I thought about going to the gym.  A lot.

But ate chocolate instead....

I thought about cleaning out the pantry....
But then I wondered if anybody actually gave a shit about whether or not my kitchen appliances & pantry supplies were lined up neatly and made myself a coffee instead.

I thought about how clever kids are when told to go upstairs and entertain themselves for a while.  You know, so mummy can sit on her arse and drink that coffee in peace and quiet.
And then I crept passed the cubby, hardcore ninja style, so the kids wouldn't see or hear me.  You know, in order to avoid having to play another game of anything.

I thought about Scott's addiction and decided that there could be worse things to be addicted to and that perhaps I shouldn't be so quick to point the addiction stick at anybody...

And then I thought about how much I miss the shops and how once this week is over, the kids only have 7.5 weeks left of school before they're back with me 24/7 for 8 weeks.  Which really means 7.5 weeks of shopping time before I'm trapped at home again with the kids and do things like fling them my phone while we're in the car.  You know, to keep them entertained so that I can focus on important things like driving.  And here's an example of what you get, when you do just that....

Yep, 100's of hardcore selfies.  Which your 7 year old never thought you'd find, let alone post on your blog for all the world to see.  Sorry Soph, but they're just too good not to share x

How about you?  Are you loving the school holidays sick or are you completely over them?
Do tell...

  1. OMG the selfies are just filling up my phone and take ages to delete 112 pictures of one boy with a slightly different expression on his face!

  2. The last two are gold! School holidays only really change a couple of days for us, so we aren't really affected by them just yet... but I have taken mental notes for the future. Thank you x

    1. School holidays are both a blessing and a curse in my humble opinion! It's great to slow down the frantic pace of the school term, but being trapped at home for a solid two weeks with two kids asking "what are we going to do today?" isn't anywhere near as fun as it sounds...not that it actually sounds fun. Give it a couple of years and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about ;)
