breakfast in bed

We have a little tradition in our house whereby the kids get served Breakfast in Bed on the first day of every school holidays.  Usually I get up a bit earlier than usual and make them pancakes as a special treat, but this time around I couldn't be bothered.  Partly because Scott's away (again) and that means doing everything on my own which sometimes is ok, sometimes not but mainly because I couldn't be bothered.  I was having a bit of whinge about this to Scott to which he replied, "Why don't you just get some long life milk and a small packet of cereal that they don't usually have and whack it on a tray for them to make themselves?"  Um, hello genius.  Why did I not think of that?!

So last night, I crept into their rooms and left this fancy little arrangement beside their beds.  Well ok, I only crept into Sophie's room because she's 7 and is asleep by 8pm.  Bailey, on other hand, is 11 going on 23, and he's up until much, much later so I interrupted his hardcore texting at around 9.30pm to deliver this to his room.  Which totally makes me sound like his slave.  Rest assured, I am not.

Anyho, this morning I woke up to the sound of spoons clinking in bowls and it was just a little bit cute.  After she'd polished off her Room Service Breakfast in Bed, Soph came bounding into our room and announced "That was the best breakfast ever.  Thanks Mum."  Which, I do believe, keeps me well and truly on track for Mother of the Year. Yet again.

K&Co. over & out xox
