school holidays

I don't know about you, but I love the school holidays.  No lunches to make at the crack of dawn, no school runs to do, no homework to supervise.  Just lots of time hanging out and doing stuff.  Here's a snapshot of what we've done so far...
Have done a bit of baking.  And you can too.  The recipe is right here

Got the electrician over for Operation Get Rid of The Broken Chandelier.  Only to discover the replacement pendant light I purchased was missing a bracket and couldn't be installed.

Bought some new cushions, watched the Lilies wilt in the weird spring heat, lit a few candles.

Had a milkshake/coffee date with my number one girl.  See that red and white lolly on the plate?  Soph held it up and announced it was her favourite.  I told her it was called Strawberries and Cream and then launched into a story about how Scott bought a packet of those very same lollies for us to share on our first date (we were at the movies)
Her reply?
"Really?  I didn't know they made them back in the olden days."
It's official.  1994 is the Olden Days.

Came home from the coffee date/stark reminder that I'm old, to find a neighbour vs neighbour basketball game happening in our street.  Put myself in charge of looking after the champagne.  Because that's where my sporting talents lie.

Went on a family picnic.  With nature and everything.  And actually enjoyed myself.  Feel free to hold an intervention when I suggest we all go camping.

Made a few purchases at Sophie's shop. It's open everyday from 8.30am - 9.45am.  There's a strict "No Returns policy" which is a bit inconvenient, but on your first visit you're rewarded with a $1000 credit card, so that's quite handy.  So far I've purchased a tea set, three Captain Underpants books and a whiteboard maker.   Probably not the most practical of purchases, but they were slightly better options than the Dora board game and trio of pillow pets.

  1. I truly believe we share the same sporting ability. Plus is there a more important job than looking after the champagne!! Looks like a fun school holidays so far.

    1. Exactly Ann! Someone has to make sure the half time refreshments are kept cool ;)

  2. Looks like you are having some fun these holidays !!!
I can't remember what we were talking about but K asked me if we had had something back in the old days when I was little - we all just cracked up laughing !
I'll definitely be there for the intervention when you start talking about camping - anyone who goes away on holiday to somewhere that involves more work than if they stayed at home deserves an intervention !!
    Have a great day !

  3. Yes, love school holidays - even though I work from home there is definitely a more relaxed vibe! Cake looks yummy but I'm allergic to bananas, boooooo, otherwise I'd ask to lick the bowl!

    1. That's an unfortunate allergy to have! Maybe I could serve the cake with a side of epi pen ;)
