the week that was

Monday the kids and I hit the shops.  And dropped a not so lazy 300 on effing school shoes.  Seriously.  You'd think they were lined with gold, but no, they're just good old Clarks.

two pairs of daytonas + 2 pairs of generic sports shoes = one depressed Mummy

Tuesday I spent the day recovering from my chest tightening shopping trip the day before, while Sophie baked and Bailey had a friend over.  At least I think he did.  I didn't see either of them for most of the day, as they were both locked in a hardcore Pokemon war with each other (whatever that means) and spent most of the day upstairs, staring at their ipods and not talking to each other.  If nothing else, 11 is a very Low Maintenance age.

Wednesday rocked around and Mum asked if she could have the kids for the day/night. Um, that would be a Big Fat Yes.  So I dropped the kids off at my parent's house, where no doubt they spent the day eating their body weight in chocolate, ice cream and soft drink (the kids, not my parents.)  Scott & I had a date night, which I kicked off with a couple of sneaky pre-dinner drinks of The Good Stuff...

Then we headed into South Bank for dinner.  For those Lovely Readers who don't know what South Bank is, here's a visual...

Yes, there actually is a beach in the middle of the city.  Which generally gets over run by toddlers who aren't what I'd call Toilet Trained just yet.  Needless to say, I've never actually swum at South Bank.  But it is very pretty to look at.

While we enjoyed our delicious dinner at new French restaurant, Aquitaine (I had Pork Belly. Scott had steak.) there were lots of freakishly healthy people zooming past our table on bikes or on foot.  The irony of their Hardcore Fitness while I was engaging in Hardcore Eating was not lost on me and for a fleeting moment I wondered whether I too should start some sort of running/jogging regime.  But then I remembered one of my favourite posters from pinterest and ordered another cocktail instead....

Thursday I did what I do best.  Hit the shops.  And spent the entire day there.  Say what you will about me, but I don't do things by halves.  That being said, I seemed to spent the day wandering rather aimlessly from shop and shop and made a number of very random purchases...

Cute little notes to whack in Sophie's lunchbox each day...

el cheapo earrings from Colette...

And a pie dish, on sale for 10 bucks.  Like I said, random.

Friday, today, will be spent at home.  We've got a very quiet day ahead before the weekend hits.  Which will involve me driving the kids to their vast array of social appointments.  So far we've got two birthday parties and a day at a mates house locked in.  Not sure how I feel about the 8 and 11 year old having a better social life than their mother.  Whatever you're up to, have a good one and I'll see you next week.  K&Co. over & out xox

  2. I'm hoping to get one more term out of my kid's school shoes Kirsten because they were only bought new last term before Christmas. Not sure they'll still fit but cutting out the toes on the old ones is a whole lot better than facing those crowded shopping centres, with kids in tow! LOL Isn't it hot?

    1. I got the pie dish from a homewares store here in Brisbane, but it's Maxwell & Williams brand so if you google it, you should be able to find one online or at a store nearby. That poster is my life motto :)

  5. I am at the shops with you in this heat - have ticked both Carindale and Indooroopilly off just this week! And with my youngest in Year 12, we are celebrating the last year of ever having to buy Clarks school shoes forever....well worth a cold glass of champagne over that milestone!
